A super quick and easy fresh dessert with delicious caramelized pears and goat cream cheese that you can top with walnuts.
I found only pecan nuts in Jo’burg for now but I will keep on struggling to find walnuts! 😉
- 1 Williams pear
- 120 g spreadable goat cheese
- 2 tbsp cane sugar
- 15 walnuts
- 1 puff pastry sheet
Pre-heat oven at 180°C
Unfold one puff pastry sheet and roll it out into a 2-3 mm piece with a rolling pin.
Place it into a large buttered baking sheet, and prick it all over with a fork. Trim any overhang of the pastry with a knife.
Using a round pastry cutter, cut the pastry into circles (about 10cm of diameter).
Bake in a heated oven at 180°C until the pastry is puffed and golden (approx 15 minutes). Let it cool on the racks.
Peel the pear and dice into 1cm cubes. Put into a pan with the sugar and cook for 10 minutes until soft and golden. Leave to cool.
Stir the chease in a little bowl until smooth and soft.
On the serving plate, put a layer of puff pastry. Add a layer of cheese and then a layer of pear cubes. Repeat for two more times.
Top your dessert with a sprinkle of finely chopped walnuts.
